Services I Offer

Initial Session with Intake

In our first session, I will take time to understand your current situation and your desired state. I will ask questions to help reveal patterns you may not have noticed. Based on my training and intuition, I will determine my initial approach to bring your body in touch with its natural healing capacity.

While this session will likely be longer than typical, I do not charge any more for it. It is my investment in serving you effectively.

Standard Session

A session is about an hour long with a brief check-in about how you have been doing since our previous session. Almost all of the time is a hands-on session with me gently moving parts of your body or applying light pressure. I will occasionally ask for feedback from you. For the most part, you relax and let your body follow its natural wisdom.

What to Expect in an Ortho-Bionomy Session

Fully clothed

You leave your clothes on for an Ortho-Bionomy session. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement, as I may be moving your arms or legs as part of our process.

Extended Session

I also offer sessions that are one and half hours long in situations where you and your body would benefit from a longer time.

Packages

Often we will want to work together over time to support maximum healing. Since your pain or stiffness is likely a manifestation of months or years of activity (or inactivity), it can take some time to complete a healing process.

I offer packages of sessions to allow for ease of scheduling, reservation of time for you, and a more affordable way to pay for multiple sessions.

Massage and Other Bodywork

I am trained in many bodywork techniques. Based on your needs and preferences, I can offer massage, CranioSacral, and acupressure. Often I use a combination of techniques to maximize the desired effect.

Whatever kind of bodywork I do, I am informed by Ortho-Bionomy and its focus on supporting the body in its natural healing capacity.

Peer Support for other practitioners

As one of the most experienced Ortho-Bionomy practitioners in Southern Oregon, I offer peer support to other practitioners. I believe so strongly in the power of Ortho-Bionomy, I want to help ensure it is available to anyone who needs it by expanding the number of people who are able to provide Ortho-Bionomy.

On comfortable table

You will lie on a comfortable padded massage table for most sessions. I can add pillows under your knees or elsewhere to make you as relaxed and at ease as possible.

Partner in healing

We work as a team. You will help me by reporting what feels best for you as I gently move your body into comfortable positions.

Home office

I see clients in my home office near the center of Ashland. My office is dedicated to my healing bodywork. The rest of my house is fully lived in by me and my family, which includes two small dogs. I am happy to welcome you into my home and ask for your understanding that it is not a pristine professional office building.

“I had accumulated a laundry list of minor and less-minor injuries that were starting to infringe on my enjoyment of my work.  In the 5 years that we worked together Melissa used the full (quite substantial) breadth of her experience and techniques to determine what my body responded to with the most lasting results. I felt that the two of us, together, were collaborating to make this work as effective as possible. ”      Sonya S.
