My Story

Walking home from an office job in the late 90s, I got the inspiration to go to massage school and have loved bodywork ever since. There is always more to learn and explore about the human body’s function and capacity. I find deep fulfillment in nurturing and supporting people, especially people experiencing pain.

Shortly after the birth of my daughterin the Spring of 2007, I discovered the gentle but powerful techniques of Ortho-Bionomy. It mirrored my commitment to kindness and gentle intervention in parenting. I celebrated finding this path full of ease that flows with natural patterns rather than direct manipulation struggling against what is present.

I feel lucky to work out of my comfortable home office, integrating my work and home life. Supporting clients to address their struggles and live better lives gives me a sense of deep meaning and appreciation around my work.

My Philosophy

Our bodies know how to heal. Our capacity for self-healing is astonishing.

Ortho-Bionomy sessions support and guide you to your own healing. I provide a time and place for your body to have its own experience and explore the healing realm. I use a safe, gentle touch to promote your body’s innate intelligence and awareness.

I bring a curious sense of wonder to each session, even if I’ve seen you many times before. I work with you to determine the best path forward for healing, to get you better than just “fine.” I listen to you and hear what you need. Then together we gently work with the healing power of your body and its systems.

“After the first session with Melissa, I felt an immediate and significant relief that lasted nearly a week, which was more than any other therapy had provided. The energy movement was profound for me, and I could feel my body responding to her gentle and effective treatment. I appreciated her responsiveness and gentle yet efficacious method.

Over the course of several sessions, she was able to correct and retrain my body to keep it in alignment and free of pain. I return to her for periodic adjustments to fine tune the progress I've enjoyed under her competent care.

Melissa is an intuitive, thoughtful, and experienced practitioner who truly listens, not only to words but to the body. Through her caring touch and consistent treatment I was able to resume many of the activities I previously enjoyed, including  my work.” Tina S.
